Explorer Class Qualification Process The 3rd-5th grade “Explorer” class is a project based learning class that meets at for at least one hour per week to enrich and extend learning. Students are engaged in solving real-world problems and presenting ideas and solutions. In addition, students will be challenged to explore their passions and will work in teams with other academically talented students by participating in multidisciplinary activities including STEM projects .

Timeline of Process
Academically talented and/or creative thinking 2nd grade students will be recommended by teachers (early March) for testing.
Information will be sent home to parents in newsletters so that they may also recommend their child for testing.
Parents will sign a permission slip giving consent for testing.
The Insight Gifted Screener will be administered in April and sent in for scoring by the beginning of May.
Test results will be emailed out to parents in report cards at the end of the school year.
