3 Words Assignment: Describe a character using these three words: bananas, violin, elephant
Emma: Me’s voice sounds like a violin. She is big like an elephant. Her breath smells of banana. She is also tall/long like a banana.
Chloe: My name is Bailey. That's it. Bananas are my favorite food I dress like one every day. I know that's not necessary but I like to shout things out and you’ll get use to that. My favorite animal is an elephant. I love them so much that I dress like them on the days I’m not dressed like a banana. There it is again. I can’t hold things like that in. I think I have a problem. I should see a doctor. I love violins. I talk way too much. I love violins so much that I had surgery so that I can change my voice to a violin whenever I want. I mean this could be a serious disease. Oh No.
Assignment: Describe a character using these three words: kitten, fork, pinecone
Emma: Me’s hair is like a kitten’s fur but longer. She also reeks of kitten smell. She has rough skin like a pinecone. When she walks she sounds like a fork does when you drop it.
Chloe: Kittens, you know those, right. I am small like one. My nails are sharp like a forks tips. I am round just like a pinecone. I seriously think I have a problem. I..I..I don’t think any one can fix this. This is bad. Really bad. Superbad. Horribly bad. I have a problem.
Hands Assignment: Write about a character by describing the character’s hands.
Emma: Watching my younger sister, how she holds a football, her hands tracing the lace. How she high fives me outlining my hand. Watching her draw, her hands moving swiftly across the page. Her hands giving me the command to kick that soccer ball. Her putting her hand out to mine tells me how much she loves me.
Halen: When I think of Sadie I think of her hands. Her hands are as happy as her face. You can tell her emotions by just looking at her hands. Her hands are frail and young. The arteries and veins are almost visible. She has beautiful hands that tackle 8 full hours of schoolwork plus homework. She holds things firmly in those hands. Her left hand no different than her right, that is how she treats people. Her hands so perfect at holding any sort of sports ball, but helpful hands too. She helps others get up with those hands. She has such supporting hands. They support everything. From pens to books to friends. She lets her hands guide her writing and lets her mind flow just as freely.
When Mrs. Gravelyn walks up to me my eyes instantly go to her hands. Those beautiful, old-ish, and barely wrinkled hands. She helped me through fourth grade with those hands. Those smiling hands. She corrects papers with those, turns pages of beloved books with those. She was my most beloved teacher. She helped me through whatever I needed. Those hands were a representation of that.
Ben: I can picture my dad’s hands so well. Thick and rough from hard work at home and at his work. So very caring hands that help me fall asleep at night. That give me hope. That make me happy and joyful. Such hands that help me with woodwork. The same hands that throw me a football and catch a baseball and shoot a basket in basketball. The same hands that give me backrubs and help me through hard times. Same hands that work hard with trees and can be so gentle with me. These hands are the same hands that would carry me to bed.
Chloe: Noah’s Hands Noah’s hands could help him shoot a basketball and block a goal as a goalie. His hands always looked so smooth. He used his smooth-looking hands to point things out at our first movie. He would point at the princess turning into a frog. When he was smaller we played together with our small little hands. Noah’s hands still looked smooth when we were little. Noah used his hands when pitching at his baseball game, which I was at. His smooth hands wrapped around the ball. I would not forget the time he didn’t use his hands for eating. We ate like pigs that night. Our hands looked like nothing compared to our faces. He used his still smooth looking hands to change the channel to America's Funniest Home Videos. We love AFV. We only went there for dinner, our power was out. You can definitely tell that he uses his hands for his hair. Noah's hands and I have been through a lot and this is just the beginning. But I never quite learned why Noah’s hands always looked so smooth.
